TRANSFORMING LIVES THAT CHANGE THE WORLD
We have all been made painfully aware of the challenges that the Coronavirus has brought to our health and way of life. Now many in our family and community face the uncertainty of reduced hours or unemployment, along with the serious threat to both their physical and mental health, we must earnestly pray and seek the Lord during these difficult times.
Few have pastored a church through a pandemic before, so I would kindly ask you to be patient with me as I seek the Lord’s will and way ahead.
As our congregation has a large number of retired folk (some have underlying and serious health issues) and following the Government’s guidance, we have no other option at this present time than to close the Victoria Community Church building and services after this weekend.
We have launched our Coronavirus action group and will be appointing volunteers (week commencing Monday 23/3/20).
We will soon be providing a newsletter both in print and email/social media/online that will keep you up-to-date with the latest news from our fellowship. These will include a word from your pastor, along with devotional contributions from our members, and other items of interest, instruction and encouragement.
We will also be starting a ‘Phone Buddies Group’ that will ensure that no-one feels isolated and alone. As your pastor, I will also be free to encourage and help you, both on the telephone, and by email/social media. Please don’t be afraid to ask!
The Victoria Community Church can also provide a volunteer-run shopping service for it’s members. As time and resources may permit, this practical help may extend to those who are outside of our fellowship.
As your pastor, what is of paramount importance to me is that no-one is left to feel alone and isolated from loving support, both spiritual and practical. This is an opportunity for us all to seek the Lord and to pray for the end of the Coronavirus and the restoration and complete healing of our community and broken world.
I count myself blessed to shepherd such a loving and special group of people. I have had the pleasure of watching you grow in the Lord, and expect you will continue in His blessing, being conformed into His image and likeness (2 Corinthians 3:17-18).
Please be assured that both myself and the Deacons at the Victoria Community Church have your very best interests at heart.
Let us take this opportunity together to shine for the Lord in these dark times. May we cast all our cares upon Him, because He knows our very needs and loves us all. May we do good to the household of faith, and especially those in our community who are yet to find our Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour.
Please do contact me if you have any questions or are in need of any assistance, or if you would like to volunteer your time or resources.
‘May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.’ (2 Corinthians 13:14)
Yours in Christ,
Rev. Simon Page
