On 8 May Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost was elected 267th Pope of the Roman Catholic Church taking the name Pope Leo XIV. His election marked a historic moment as he is the first American-born pope, haling from Chicago and holding dual citizenship with Peru. His extensive missionary work in Peru and leadership with the Vatican’s Dicastery of Bishop’s reflect a blend of pastoral and administrative experience.
A Visionary for Unity and Peace.
Peope Leo XIV’s inagural address emphasised unity, compassion, and peace. He called for “unarmed and disarming” peace rooted in God’s uncondtional love, aiming to, bridge divides between religious and secular communities. His motto, “In one Christ we are all one”, underscores his commtment to inclusivity and reconcilliation.
