I have been a largely plant-based eater since I was 18. The reason is that I have the welfare of animals at heart, along with a desire to eat healthily. Back in the 80s when I was a young man, vegetarianism and veganism were fashionable. Artists like The Smiths, Howard Jones, etc, advocated that such a diet was moral and compassionate.
