Just a quick line or two about the charity I work for. ROC Blackpool is a Christian based charity that operates in Blackpool to alleviate the needs of poor people and deprived areas.

We do this by working in tandem with groups like the Jobcentre, Blackpool and Fylde college, The Council, etc to give unemployed people the chance to volunteer with us or a work placement. During their voluntary work with us or work placement, they learn all about gardening or about skills needed for a busy office.

Our turnover for getting our volunteers into work is very successful and we believe that finding and keeping a job is a way of poverty for many. It builds their self-esteem and confidence in themselves once more.
